    Primary routes of exposure
__eye __x_ skin ____oral __x_ inhalation _____other

Signs and Symptoms of Excessive Inhalation : (mehtylene chloride) (300-700 ppm for 3-5 hours) causes slight loss of coordination and equiliibrium systoms can also include dizziness, nausea, tingling of the extremities, stipor, lethargy, convulsions diminished vision.

Signs and Symptoms of Sever Exposure : (methylene chloride) may cause unconsciousness and death . Systoms are usually delayed in onset. (Perchloroethylene) (600 ppm for 10 minutes) may effect the central nervous system

Medical Conditions Aggravated by OverExposure: epoxy remover is irritating to the eyes and may cause burns if not promptly removed. Prolonged or repeated contact with the skin may cause reddness, irritation, dermatitis, frostbite burns. It may also be absorbed through the skin in toxic amounts. Ingestion of methylene chloride causes irritation of the gastrointestinal tract and systoms resembling those from inhalation of vapor. Damage the the liver, kidneys, and blood may result.
  7. Emergency and First Aid Procedures
Eyes: flush holding eyelids open with water for at least 15 minutes and call a physician immediately.

Skin: wash affected areas with large amounts of soap and water while removing contaminated clothing. If irritation persists call a physician.

Ingestion: do not induce vomiting, if vomiting occurs spontaneously, position victims head below trunk to resist aspiration hazard., Call a physician immediately.

Inhalation: move exposed person to fresh air, if not breathing perform artificial respiration, keep warm, get medical help immediately advise physician not to use adrenalin.
  8. Exposure Controls/Personal Protection
Respiratory Protection: use a full face piece respirator

Ventilation Requirements: maximum ventilation Eye Protection: appropriate eye and face protection required

Protective Gloves: neoprene, viton, pva or pvc coated gloves

Other Protective Clothing: aprons and other protective clothing

Eye wash station should be available in work area.
  9. Spill or Leak Procedures
Measures to be Taken if Released or Spilled : supply maximum ventilation. Confine spill to small area; use proper protection from liquid contact and vapor inhalation. Pick up spill with absorbent. Place in a covered container for disposal.

Waste Disposal Methods: dispose of in accordance to federal, state, and local regulations.
  10. Storage and Handling Information
Precautions to be taken in handling and Storage: store in closed container in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from fire hazards. Open containers slowly and with caution. Protect containers from physical damage. Use only with adequate ventilation. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, and clothing. Larc review (1979) listed animal carcinogenic determination as indefinite for methylene chloride. A substantial risk NOTICE: to epa (TSCA, 8e) reports ahigh incidence of lung and liver tumors in mice in long-term inhalation studies-1984 NIOSH has recommended that perchloroethylene be handled as if it were a human carcigen
